In Part 3, we got acquainted with the two significant others of 18th century governor and scholar Bi Yuan (aka Bi Qiufan) - his wife Wang De and his male lover Li Guiguan. Because of Li’s relationship with Bi Yuan, Li Guiguan was widely known by the moniker “Wife of the First Place Candidate”, a title that officially applies to Wang De.
