In the previous post, we read 12th c. and 4th c. retellings of a romance that took place around 666 -316 BCE. An even older recorded version of the story of the transwoman who married a king of the ancient Shu Kingdom is found in The Epoch of the Kings of Shu[i], written by Yang Xiong (53 BCE-18 CE).[1]
